The documentary short film “Paul” is an inspiring story about Paul, a 13-year-old boy from the township of Dunoon in Cape Town, South Africa. Paul has a dream, a dream he thinks about all day; he wants to become a surfer. However, for boys from Dunoon, surfing is not easy. There’s no transportation to the beach, and there’s no money for equipment. Fortunately, there’s a registered non-profit organization that picks up Paul three times a week to go surfing on the crystal-white shores of Blouberg beach.
The documentary showcases one week in Paul’s life. The story will forever change your perspective on children from disadvantaged neighborhoods. The narrator of the story is surf legend and sports icon Robby Naish, who also has a role in the documentary.
